If there is no Wi-Fi nearby and you have iPhone, iPad and other Apple device with 3G or 4G data connection then this problem can be easily solved by using Personal Hotspot. Apple personal Hotspot is a connection of iOS that lets iPhones running on iOS 4.3 and shares their wireless data communication with other nearby devices via Wi-Fi, USB, and Bluetooth. It is also called tethering. In this case, the iPhone acts as a wireless router for another device’s. It is transmitting and receiving data form them. An iPhone 3GS offers Bluetooth and USB connections.
To Setup Hotspot in iPad and iPhone:
- Press on the Settings icon on home screen. In iOS 6 or lower, Press on General, then tap Network.
- For iOS 7 or higher, the process is simple. After pressing Settings, tap Personal Hotspot.
- For iOS 7, if already used tethering on device, can skip this step.
- Or down the screen, see a button named Personal Hotspot. Just press it.
- If the service of the iPhone’s data plan have not added, or don’t already have tethering enabled on the account, then see a pop-up instructing to add. Do this by calling the cell phone carrier or adding the service via web-based account.
- Once the tethering service added to the data plan, just need to turn it on and start using it.
- In iOS 7 and higher, go to Settings > Personal Hotspot and move the slider so the green is shown. Personal Hotspot of the phone will start up.
- In iOS 6 and earlier, tap Settings > Network > Personal Hotspot. Set the Personal Hotspot slider to ON.
- And with that, setting up is done and Personal Hotspot is ready to let others connect to it. As said previously, the communication process is the same as it is used with other Wi-Fi and Bluetooth networks.
- If want to change that password, press the password sector and edit it for the next screen.
To let others connect to phone, tell them to turn on Wi-Fi and search for the name of selective phone. They should select that network and enter the hotspot password. When they’re connected to a selective phone, a blue bar at the top of the screen will show and, in iOS 7, if the screen is locked a number next to the icon that indicates how many devices are connected with.
